Uyghur Dance - Muqam performance

Uyghur* dance is so enjoyable. This first dance's name in Uyghur (Muqam) but in Arabic will sound (Maqam). It looks that it is a legacy of the Silk Road  that has mix of different touches  of  right from (North East Middle Asia, and through Persia Iran to the entire Arab World.  This (Muqam) has strong similarity with the (ألصوفيÙ`Ù‡)Soophi melodies of : Oman-Iran (where the original Soophi  movement came from)-Syria- Egypt- & Turkish++ mixed with (Darwish) dances.

But what makes it special with the Uyghur

that women is  the main dancer not man

along with other women dancing 

along side the men

that surprised me 

very much. 

 

Yet  this art exist's in  North West China of today with all its glory. Very rear to be known by Muslims of the world

It also keeps you wonder that the Uyghor have kept using their Arabic letters till today.
